I would return to Great Falls, Montana just to stay at The Historic Hotel Arvon.  It has maintained the charm of its yesteryears, though fully renovated.  Everything is like new, comfortably clean and crisp.  Yet you can easily envision its original state.

The establishment has mastered the artful balance of old and modern.  I would love to see many more investors accomplish what these folks have.  I am thoroughly impressed.  All this and the price is tilted in the sleeper’s favor.  Its rates were competitive with neighboring hotels.  I am happy to cast my vote for this beauty by paying below $100 a night (at least that was the price when I was there in January of 2016).

There are plenty of good things to say about my short visit to the Hotel Arvon.  The staff was knowledgeable and answered my many questions about the building and its history.  When the front clerk had a few minutes to spare, I was given a quick tour with explanation of the old architecture and its past functions.

Archways in the basement used to be horse stalls.  Once upon a time, Hotel Arvon was separate buildings, a livery, boarding house and market.  They have cleverly tied the buildings together by converting the alley into hallways with a skylight.

Hotel Arvon is a boutique hotel, which means that no two rooms are alike.  The room I stayed in was small, but contained everything that I needed or wanted.  The bathroom was a sharp up-to-date design, which I personally appreciated.

Oh yes, upon checking in, I was given a breakfast voucher to use at the Celtic Cowboy, which is the adjoining pub.  I ordered the house-made Corned Beef O’Brien, a hearty start to a day.  It was delicious and very much like a true Irish breakfast.

Breakfast at the Celtic Cowboy is quiet in comparison to its energized evenings.  I had dinner and breakfast here and enjoyed the liveliness in the evening as much as I enjoyed its gentle start to the day.
