What would you say if I told you there is a mobile APP that allows citizens to share critical information with their local communities?  Information that could potentially lower crime rates and save lives in many ways. I imagine you would want to know more. If you read a little further I will be happy to explain it to you.

The APP I am talking about is called the World Threat Directory (WTD). It was created by a career United States Army Special Operations Veteran.  Shane Blevins is knowledgeable in hostage rescue, counter terrorism, survival and tactical training.  He has extensive war fighting experience in many hot spots around the globe and concluded his military service as the senior enlisted advisor at the U.S. Army Survival, Evasion, Resistance, Escape (SERE) School. Shane has a passion for equipping others and does so by sharing his expertise through Omega Group Consultants, LLC (http://service.omagc.com).

The World Threat Directory (WTD) APP is a Cloud based repository of intelligence that functions as both a website and mobile APP.  Its potential to better our lives is enormous. The WTD allows individuals all over the world to collaborate and share information in some extremely important areas. Best of all it is an absolutely free resource. This is truly the first time in history that the general populace has had the ability to freely and easily share intelligence such as this.

So What Exactly is the World Threat Directory (WTD) APP?

In short the WTD is a map that contains listings (think of Google Maps with places). The listings are data from user and organizational input focusing on crimes, criminal groups, biohazards, and weather. So let’s look at them individually.

Crime

The crime category is probably the most robust of the WTD categories. This category allows individuals as well as local police departments to document crime activity as well as suspicious activity in a specific area. This in turn allows users to look at a geo-map of the area and identify risks in the community. It also allows the ability to crowd source for solving crimes and monitoring your respective neighborhood.

One other service benefit the APP has is it allows the local law enforcement to send and push notifications to their respective community. The local police force simply has to request a ‘verified’ account (FREE) and it is given direct access to the platform. This allows rapid dissemination of time-critical events such as an Amber Alert, active shooter incident or similar case.

Criminal Groups

The criminal groups category allows a centralized database on criminal elements that can be contributed to (and utilized) by citizens; all anonymously. The benefits here are vast. A simple example would be . . . an individual that lives in a terrorist controlled area could report terrorist activities, locations, operational procedures, etc., right to the WTD. This information is then available to all citizens traveling to the area as well as counter-terrorist task forces.

Biohazard

The biohazard category was created to help minimize the spread of infectious disease via real time awareness in the community. There are two sub categories here. Verified and unverified. Hospitals and other health care providers can post verified listings while all others have the ability to share unverified listings. The concept is simple.  As soon as an infectious disease arises in an area it is listed to the WTD.  Then all those in the community are made aware of its presence and can take measures to safeguard against it. From Strep Throat to Ebola containment, the APP is a base for critical information in the effort to manage biohazard incidents.

Weather

The weather category serves to help minimize loss and assist in recovery during disasters. The geo map allows users to input various warnings. It also allows recovery teams to mark areas as cleared, greatly improving efficiency during decentralized efforts. One great feature in the weather category is giving a user the ability to list themselves as needing emergency extraction. Engaging the APP’s geo location ability can precisely mark where you are, enabling responders to send a team for extraction.
